Is the NMAT easier than CAT? What is a good score for NMIMS Mumbai?

Body

I have been hearing that NMAT is easier and has no negative marking, but the adaptive format is tricky. If I am scoring around 75 to 80 percentile in CAT mocks, can I expect a good NMAT score? Also how much should I aim for NMIMS Mumbai or Hyderabad?

Yes, it's easier overall, but don't underestimate it. Time per question is very low. I used NMAT official mocks and GMAT-style logic drills to prepare. Don't forget that it is, after all, an MBA entrance examination so tread lightly and give it your all.

Prepare vocab and LR separately for NMAT. CAT doesn't emphasize vocabulary, but NMAT has synonym-antonym type questions, which I wasn't ready for.

I think 232+ is the sweet spot for NMIMS Mumbai, but it also depends on the cutoffs each year. Practice adaptive mocks regularly; don't rely only on CAT prep.No negative marking sounds good, but you have to maintain speed and accuracy together. I had to retake NMAT because I panicked and made silly errors in Quant.

NMAT is easier concept-wise, but the adaptive pattern punishes inconsistency. I scored 245 in NMAT while getting 85 percentile in CAT mocks. So yes, it's possible if you play smart.
