What is the difficulty level of the NMAT exam? Like who should take it?

Body

Hey guys, I have been looking into the NMAT exam and was wondering what is the difficulty level like compared to other MBA entrance tests like CAT or SNAP? Also, who is the ideal candidate for NMAT? Like, should freshers take it or is it better for people with work experience? Would love to hear your thoughts.

From my experience, NMAT is less tricky than CAT or XAT. The questions are more direct, and the time pressure is manageable if you have practiced mock tests. I would say it is a good fit for working professionals who may not have too much time to prepare intensely but still want to go for a toptier MBA. The flexibility in choosing exam dates and retakes is also a big plus.

NMAT is definitely on the easier side compared to CAT or XAT, but do not underestimate it. The time constraints make it challenging, you need to be really fast and accurate. It is ideal for people who are good with speed and strategy. I think both freshers and candidates with work experience can go for it, but those with some experience might benefit more because NMIMS tends to give weightage to work experience.

i attempted NMAT and felt the difficulty level was moderate. It does not test your deep logical reasoning or advanced quant skills like CAT does. The verbal section is more vocabulary focused, and quant is basic. It is great for students who want a decent shot at a B-school like NMIMS Mumbai and are not aiming only for the IIMs. Freshers, especially those from commerce and arts backgrounds, can find this more approachable.

honestly speaking, NMAT is designed in a very candidate friendly way, no negative marking, sectional flexibility in some parts, and multiple attempts allowed. I would rate the difficulty as low to moderate. It’s not meant to filter the top 1% like CAT. So if you are someone who wants a less intense test, it is for you.

I found the NMAT to be relatively moderate in difficulty, especially when compared to CAT. The best part is that there is no negative marking, which gives you the freedom to attempt all questions without fear. The exam is ideal for students who are consistent in their basics but might not perform well under high pressure. Freshers can definitely take it, especially if they’re targeting NMIMS or other decent B-schools that accept NMAT scores.
